Why do hotel linens shrink when washed by washing machines?

The sheets, quilt covers, towels, bath towels, etc. used in hotel rooms are usually washed in a washing machine, and sometimes shrink. In fact, no matter what kind of linen will shrink when washed for the time, the shrinkage is not obvious. So, what factors are related to the shrinkage rate of linen fabrics?

From the perspective of fabric materials, the better the water absorption of the fabric fiber, the greater its shrinkage, because the greater the water absorption of the fiber, the greater the expansion, and the shorter the length of the fabric; for example, the water absorption rate of viscose fiber is as high as 13%, but compared with synthetic fiber, its water absorption is relatively poor, so its shrinkage is relatively small.

According to the intersection of warp and weft yarns in the hotel linen fabric, the density of the synthetic fabric is added by adding the warp and weft yarns. According to the different fabric densities, the shrinkage rates of fabrics with different yarns are also different. If the warp and longitude densities are relatively similar, the warp and longitude shrinkages are also relatively similar. If the warp density is greater than the warp density, the warp shrinkage will be greater. The counts of linen fabrics are divided into 40, 60, 80, etc. according to their thickness. The larger the number, the finer the yarn. According to different counts, the shrinkage rate is different. The thicker the gauze, the greater the shrinkage, and the thinner the gauze, the smaller the shrinkage.
